Standardized dispatch among Lake or Porter County's demand bus services (South Lake County Community Services, Porter County Aging and Community Services, North Township Dial-A-Ride, and Opportunity Enterprises) enable rides to be scheduled more efficiently.

RBA transit service providers ensure public transit accessibility for all riders, including those with special needs because of age or disabilities.

Tips for Riding the Bus

  • Buses will stop upon signal to driver at marked RBA bus stops or at any corner along the route where it is safe to do so.
  • As the bus approaches, wave your hand to get the driver's attention.
  • Have your fare ready for deposit as you board the vehicle. EXACT CHANGE IS REQUIRED. The driver has no change.
  • If you need a transfer, please ask the driver upon boarding the vehicle.
  • Bags or packages may be stored on the seat next to you or on the floor in front of your seat, as they cannot be in the aisle.
  • Children MAY NOT ride in strollers while the bus is in motion. After taking your seat, place the child in a seat and store the stroller behind a seat.
  • As the bus nears your stop, signal the driver by pulling the signal cord or by pressing the signal strip.
  • No eating, smoking or radio playing is allowed on the buses.
  • Shirts and shoes must be worn. Passengers with a disability who require a reasonable accommodation relating to this rule are exempt.
  • Reasonable ADA Guideline accommodations may be requested of the bus driver.
